Mare Cheia Traditional Chalan Hat
This is a classic South-American horserider hat traditionally woven by female artisans in Peru. The toquilla palm tree frond is picked, sun-dried and then stripped into micro-fine strands that are hand-woven together to create a tightly woven hood.
The hat is then fixed with natural tree sap. This is an entirely plant-based product, no synthetic products or chemicals are used.
The crown of this hat has a traditional Chalan or horserider teardrop molded crown, while the brim of this hat is fully moldable with use or shaping.
Hand-woven with a large brim and rolled-up edges, this comfortable and lightweight hat is great for the outdoors and for protection from the sun's harmful rays.
